About Us

Both my husband Ken and I have always had dogs in our families as we were growing up. My family had a dachshund that was never far away from me. Kens family had miniature poodles. Ken hunts upland birds and water fowl so he moved to sporting dogs. After we were married, we bought our first Labrador retriever. We raised and worked our Labradors for 12 yrs. We did field trials and hunt tests, putting various titles on our dogs over the years. In 1995, I decided that I wanted to go back to my first breed, the dachshund and compete in conformation. After over a year of searching, we met Mary Dowski of Car-Rae Kennels. She sold us our first conformation puppy a longhaired miniature dachshund; Ch. Car-Raes Calista Magic ML. Callie and I learned the show ring together, fortunately she learned faster than I did! Later, I bought another miniature dachshund puppy from Mary, Ch. Car-Raes Baby Ruth. Both became AKC Champions and completed as a brace team for over three years in which they received multiple Best Brace in Show awards. We have several Champions now, some were purchased as puppies, the others we have bred ourselves. I enjoy showing dogs and especially those of our breeding. Showing to us is the teamwork and trust that is built between the dog and the handler. We hope you enjoy our website and our wonderful dachshunds. Please contact us at any time if you have questions about our dogs, puppy inquiries, available miniature longhaired dachshund PRA Clear dogs for stud to approved bitches, or about our future breeding program of Calista Dachshunds.

In 2007 our goals are to attend the DCA National Specialty in Sacramento (March), the NMDC Annual Specialty (June) St. Louis, MO and the AKC/Eukanuba Championship in Long Beach (December).

Mission Statement

We believe that as breeders we are the keepers of the breed. To do this we live by the standards and ethics set forth by the National Dachshund Club of America Breed Club and the National Miniature Dachshund Club. We breed to the approved dachshund standard.

We are dedicated to produce healthy, happy, beautiful dogs that will be a joy to live with. We test our dogs for genetic health problems associated with dachshunds. We socialize our puppies from birth. We compete in the Conformation ring to not only achieve Champion titles, but also to have our potential breeding stock evaluated to ascertain that we try to produce the best possible puppies.
